We are about a week and a half out from Gamehole Con 12, one of the best cons in the Midwest. There’s lots of reasons to head to Madison WI this October 16th - 19th, 2025: the games, the auction, the dealer’s hall, and perhaps the best ratio of industry guests to attendees on the con circuit. If you ever wanted to play a game with your favorite game creators, you won’t have a better chance than at Gamehole. And don’t forget the great Gamehole Con folks are premiering their own Organized Play campaign called Wardens of the Eastern Marches!
Here’s a look at a few of the events you can find me at during the convention. I hope to see you there.

Panels
I always try to do at least three panels or live plays during Gamehole. It’s a great way to delve into rpg design, history, and news, or even pick up tips and tricks for running your game. This year I will be at:
Thursday - 10:00 AM, Mendota 3
How to use character backstories and in-game player decisions to propel story hooks that impact character narrative and create impactful resolutions and choices that rip your players’ hearts out.
Friday - 9:00 AM CST, Mendota 3
Our panelists talk about the pros and cons of playing OP programs at conventions, the evolution of OP, breaking into writing for RPGs through OP Programs, and the latest news about Legends of Greyhawk, Wardens of the Eastern Marches, D&D Adventurers League, Pathfinder Society, or similar programs. Our panel of experts are ready to answer questions on all things organized play.
Saturday - 12:00 PM CST, Mendota 3
Writers, editors, artists, production managers, and layout artists; tabletop gaming offers many opportunities those interested in turning what you love into a career. Our panelists discuss working in the ttrpg industry, both as a full-time career or as part-time freelancers for various companies. Come hear about our highs and lows of working in ttrpgs, get some advice, and learn if it might be for you.
Games
I’ll be at Gamehole running a Limited Release (Author Only) event for Legends of Greyhawk. Hope into the campaign that premiered at Gen Con explore the beginnings of Rary and Robilar’s story, reimagined for the new campaign. This is a chance to meet the archmage and his ally, explore the Bright Desert, delve into the ruins of ancient Sulm to thwart the plans of the Cult of Elemental Evil. I’ve care to respect the original lore, while putting a new spin on things that bring the characters into the middle of events that could change the world.
The Ruins of Sulm
The Archmage Rary has grown concerned about the growing threat of the Elder Elemental Eye. When rumors reach him of a fire cult rising in the Bright Desert among the ruins of ancient Sulm, he sends you to look into it and report back. A Legends of Greyhawk Author Only adventure run by the author for characters 1st to 4th level, optimized for 3rd-level characters.
