The Legends of Greyhawk campaign has a special limited release type of adventure called an Author Only adventure. These are unique adventures written by Wizards of the Coast staff involved with organized play, organized play administrators contracted by Wizards (like myself), and the creative leads of our organizer content partners. These adventures are run at conventions, both in person and online, but due to their nature, will not see a wide release. Because they are run by the authors and are not published, they often allow great flexibility and let the campaign staff test out new mechanics or ideas. Playing one is a real treat where you get play with one of the people creating the campaign, and experience their particular style and stories.

Generally, the authors run the same adventure for roughly a year before creating a new one… and its time for next one! Introducing The Ruins of Fharlanst premiering at Gamehole Con 2026!

The Ruins of Fharlanst

Continuing to search for the meaning behind the rune recovered beneath the Bright Desert, the Archmage Rary uncovers centuries old lore connecting it to the ruins of Castle Fharlanst, and a dark chapter of in the history of The Great Kingdom of Aerdy. A Legends of Greyhawk Author Only adventure run by the author for characters 5th to 10th level, optimized for 8th-level characters.

The Ruins of Fharlanst loosely follows the events of my previous adventure The Ruins of Sulm with the archmage Rary, and his crony Robilar, hiring adventurers to plum the depths of another famous ruin in search of answers.

In this adventure, you will travel to Castle Fharlanst that looms on the Aerdi Coast of the Great Kingdom of Aerdy, between Winetha and Roland. It was the stronghold of Sir Kargoth, who was a leading figure in the Knight Protectors of the Great Kingdom before being transformed into the first death knight on Oerth. Your brave characters will delve the depths of this dangerous ruin, destroyed over 300 years ago, and learn about Oerth’s past!

See you around the table!
